Women Aloud NI was founded in December 2015 by author Jane Talbot to raise the profile of the women’s writing scene in Northern Ireland. Such a supportive and proactive ethos remains at the heart of all we do. Members of Women Aloud NI 2019 are all ages, write across all genres, and come from a wide range of backgrounds – from women who have won international awards for their writing, others who self-publish or are published regularly in books, magazines and journals to women beginning to build their profile as writers.

We celebrate and promote our members – both online and in regular literary events throughout the year. While our core events focus on readings organised across NI to celebrate International Women’s Day and include a creative collaboration with The Irish Writers’ Centre in Dublin for WomenXBorders, Women Aloud NI members have also enjoyed taking part in TitanCon, FSNI readings, The Belfast Book Festival, Poetry Day Ireland, The C.S. Lewis Festival, EastSide Arts Festival, Aspects Festival, literary flashmobs, Culture Night Belfast site-specific events, curated events at EastSide Arts Festival, Flowerfield Arts Centre, NT Mount Stewart – and more!

As a not-for-profit unincorporated association, Women Aloud NI is governed by a Management Committee headed up of our Chairwoman (Dr. Kendra Reynolds) and supported by Regional Reps, a Social Media Team, and project volunteers. All this work is done on an entirely voluntary basis.
